Presentation Title: Extending the Oracle E-Business Suite with Open Source Technologies
Speaker: Mr Patrick Haston
Company: Scottish Natural Heritage
Presentation abstract: I'd like to show you how we built an extension to the Oracle E-Business Suite using Open Source (free!) technologies. We built a sophisticated time recording module that integrates closely with the Oracle E-Business Suite to avoid double entry. Absences are recorded in the Oracle E-Business Suite and are visible in the time recording application. Overtime is recorded and approved in the time recording application and posted directly into Oracle Payroll.

The new application uses a MySQL database, Glassfish 4 and a Java REST API on the server, with a responsive AngularJS application in the browser.

This presentation will start with an overview of why we chose this route and the business benefits before diving into some of the technical challenges that needed to be addressed.
